Program 
Erasmus was established in 1987 as an exchange student. Although its scope and objectives broadened in subsequent years, the main idea remains the same: to develop international cooperation between universities. Erasmus name refers to the name of the Dutch philosopher and theologian, humanist, Erasmus of Rotterdam (1466-1536). Not without reason. Erasmus, and other eminent men of the Renaissance, was educated in many universities in different countries of Europe, and his views on education were permeated with a deep humanism.
Erasmus is a program for the university, its students and employees. It supports international cooperation in higher education, enables student mobility abroad for part of their studies and practice, promotes the mobility of university, universities creates numerous opportunities to participate in projects with foreign partners. In some of his actions may also attend other institutions, organizations or companies that cooperate with universities.
Poland takes part in the Erasmus program since 1998/99. In the years 1995-2006, Erasmus was part of the Community program Socrates, and from the academic year 2007/2008 is part of the "Learning for Life" (LLP - The Lifelong Learning Programme) program of the European Union in the field of education and training provided for the years 2007-2013.
Participating countries:
